This is a general term that describes a number of procedures that may be utilized to restore a more youthful and natural appearance to the face. Individuals may need only one problem addressed, but others may benefit from a combination of procedures, all of which can be performed at the same surgery, to achieve a pleasing result. Facial rejuvenation may also be complimented by the reduction of large earlobes, use of chemical peels or lasers to resurface the skin, placement of chin implants, and platysmaplasties (the reapproximation of the separated vertical muscles on the front part of the neck.)
This procedure elevates the eyebrow, but also raises excess tissue that may be bulging from underneath the eyebrow, obscuring vision. The result is an 'opening up' of the eye, with a bright look and loss of any angry appearance. A brow lift is also successful in removing or softening horizontal forehead lines, as well as the vertical lines that can occur above the nose. This procedure is often covered by insurance.
This procedure directly excises any excess skin of the upper eyelid. It will give the eye a much more youthful appearance. If vision is affected by the excess skin, most insurance companies will cover the cost of the procedure. Lower eyelids may also need surgery to achieve a better look, but this is considered purely cosmetic and is not routinely covered by insurance companies.
This procedure involves the releasing of loose skin from its attachments, followed by the excision of this skin. The middle and lower parts of the face are treated at the same time. The incisions are well hidden within the hairline and about the ear. The result is a tightening of facial skin and a marked improvement in the appearance of the nasolabial fold, which is the large fold that exists below the nose and above the outer lip. It is this fold that is responsible for a significant amount of an aged facial appearance. The facelift can also greatly improve or remove the 'turkey neck', which is the excess skin that accumulates under the chin on the front part of the neck.
This procedure is simply an extension of the basic face lift, and it is designed to elevate any sagging tissues on the sides of the neck. More often than not, it will not be required.
This procedure takes fat from one part of the body (abdomen, knees, thighs), and places it into the face, to restore volume that has been lost due to natural aging. The results are generally excellent in restoring a youthful appearance to the face, and this procedure can be performed at the same time as a facelift. The fat is often permanent, as compared to most manufactured fillers, which may last only three to six months. The procedure is also comparatively inexpensive.
Saline or silicone implants are used to enlarge and improve the appearance of smaller breasts. This procedure may be performed in conjunction with a breast lift (mastopexy) if the breasts exhibit a significant degree of sagging.
Large, pendulous breasts are often responsible for symptoms such as neck pain, back pain, and shoulder pain. Rashes that are difficult to treat can also occur under the breasts. Because of these issues, breast reduction surgery is usually covered by insurance companies. The procedure is straight forward, and requires the resection of excess fat and skin. The nipple usually needs to be reduced in size and elevated to a new position as well. The result is smaller, aesthetically pleasing breasts that fit the size of the individual.
Receiving a diagnosis of breast cancer is traumatic and painful. However, the disease is very treatable when detected early. Many options now exist for patients who carry this diagnosis. At our surgery center, we can remove the tumor, remove axillary lymph nodes, and perform skin and nipple sparing mastectomies with immediate implant reconstruction, all performed at one surgery. All of this surgery is covered by insurance companies. The result is the removal of the tumor and an aesthetically pleasing breast with no need for prostheses. Prophylactic mastectomies are also a good option for patients with a strong family history of breast cancer, and for those who carry the now detectable BRCA-1 and BRCA-2 genes. It is always an honor to allow us to assist you on this difficult journey.
An abdominoplasty is a procedure that reshapes the abdominal wall and flanks. In recent times, it is best accomplished with thorough liposuction, followed by the excision of excess skin. Tightening of the abdominal musculature with sutures may also be required. The result is a smaller abdomen with better definition of the body's natural curves.
This procedure consists of the removal of excess fat and skin from the underside of the upper arm. It is a common problem after significant weight loss. Minor cases may be treated with liposuction alone, but larger problems usually require direct skin removal.
Sagging skin about the thighs, which is common after weight loss, is removed by direct excision with an incision that is well hidden. The results are generally dramatic and pleasing.
Liposuction is a procedure in which subcutaneous fatty tissue is removed with a suction device. It can be performed as a stand-alone procedure to the face, neck, chest, back, abdomen, flanks, thighs, and knees. However, liposuction is most often combined with another procedure, such as abdominoplasty, for optimal results.
The removal of most skin cancers is generally straight forward. However, lesions that occur on the forehead, nose, eyelids or cheeks may require special flaps to close. We can perform this surgery as needed.
Vaginal rejuvenation usually involves three procedures, all of which can be performed alone or in combination as needed. These procedures are: tightening of the vaginal opening, reduction of the size of the labia minora (the inner dark skin), and fat transfers to elevate and enlarge the mons and labia majora.
Modern hair transplantation uses micro grafts of individual hair follicles that are taken from the back and sides of the head and transplanted to the areas where they are needed. The result is a fuller, more natural hair pattern, which is nothing like the 'plugs' of former years.
